Pedrick 75 RS Cruising Sloop - SHANAKEE II
Shanakee II is a magnificent, 75-ft LOA, raised-salon cruising sloop
created for an experienced US West Coast yachtsman. Launched in January
2000, this Pedrick 75RS has covered many Pacific Ocean miles. Her generous
sail plan propels her effortlessly in light breezes, while ample stability
makes her powerful and comfortable in fresh conditions.
Shanakee II's salon offers panoramic visibility, whether standing or seated
at the large dining table. The forward windows extend over a lower
lounge/library and the galley. The owner's stateroom aft has been designed
for long-term, live-aboard comfort, with a queen-sized island berth,
settee, large head and ample storage space. The accommodations forward
include two symmetrical, double-berth guest staterooms and a captain's
cabin.
The well-protected center cockpit has long, deep settees and a proper
dining table. Shelter from adverse weather is offered under coachroof
extensions at the forward end of the cockpit, while self-tailing, powered
winches on the coamings outboard of the cockpit are within easy reach of
the helm.
Demonstrating the performance, handling and seaworthiness of this design,
Shanakee II made the 1,200-mile delivery sail from Puget Sound to Southern
California comfortably averaging 10 knots. This gratifying performance
prompted her owner to enter his new yacht in the 2001 Trans Pac Race, in
which she took line honors and placed second on corrected time in the
cruiser/racer division.
Although racing was not part of Shanakee II's design brief, such
outstanding sailing qualities in a fully appointed cruising yacht give
testimony to the Pedrick pedigree of yachts that are beautiful, comfortable
and fast.
